Smart home consultancy services

Every project runs through the same six stages. What changes is what we are optimising for — running costs, independence at home, or a property that works for whoever lives in it next.

The three routes

  • A father on the sofa with his toddler in a terraced-house living room in the evening, a table lamp on and a small speaker on the shelf behind them.

    Home and family

    Families · first-time buyers · renters · busy professionals · the tech-curious

Start with heating, because that is where the money is. Everything else waits until it earns its place.

    Request a quote

Quoted per home once we have talked, and the plan is yours whatever you decide. Renting? The plan is written so it moves out with you.

  • A woman in her seventies in her armchair by the window, a book open on her lap and a single-button remote on the table beside her tea.

    Accessible living

Older people · anyone who wants a home that is easier to live in

Lights, heating, doors and blinds that answer to a voice or one button. Set up so staying in your own home stays the easy option.

    Request a quote

Priced per home, because no two homes need the same thing. The first call is free and there is no obligation after it.

  • A landlord standing in an empty, freshly painted flat between tenancies, checking the wall thermostat with the keys in his hand.

    Property and business

Landlords · flippers · developers · business owners

Fewer callouts, lower running costs, and a system the next tenant can actually use. Specified once, repeatable across units.

    Request a quote

A written spec for the first unit, quoted once we have talked. Repeats across a portfolio are quoted per property, and always cheaper than the first.

The SMART method

Six stages, and you can stop after any of them

  1. DoneSurveyYour home, shown to me remotely.
  2. DoneMapWhat you own, on one page.
  3. DoneArchitectThe plan, in plain English.
  4. DoneRolloutFitted in phases, set up remotely.
  5. DoneTuneFour weeks of adjustment.
  6. In progressCompleteHandover pack and guide.

The same component appears inside your portal from the day the project opens, showing where your own home has got to. It is the one device shared by all three surfaces.

Questions people ask first

If yours is not here, ask it on a call — it costs nothing and I will tell you if I am the wrong person for the job.

Do you sell the equipment?

No, and I take no commission from anyone who does. You buy your own kit at the price you find and I tell you exactly what to buy, so nothing on your list is there because it pays me.

What happens on the first call?

Twenty-five minutes, on Google Meet or the phone, free. You describe the house and what is annoying you, and I tell you honestly whether you need me. Plenty of calls end with a suggestion and nothing further.

Do I have to do the whole thing at once?

No. You can stop at the end of any of the six stages and keep everything produced up to that point — including the written plan, which is yours whether or not you go on to have any of it fitted.

Do you come to the house?

No. Everything is done remotely. After the first call you open a project and add photographs, videos and what you want the home to do; a second call goes through it; then the written plan. If something needs configuring — Google Home, Alexa, the heating app — I can do it on your own computer over a remote session that you watch and can end at any moment.

Do you install anything?

No. I write the plan and set the system up remotely. Fitting is yours if you are happy with a screwdriver; if you would rather someone did it, I recommend an installer and the plan is written so they can follow it.

Can I take the plan to someone else?

Yes. It is written in plain English so another installer could follow it. Being tied to me because only I understand your house would be a worse product, not a better business.

Will this work with what I already own?

Usually, and finding out is a whole stage of the method. Map exists to inventory what is already in the house before anything new is considered — most homes keep more than the owner expects.

How do you handle my data?

Only what is needed to do the work, and you can see and delete it from your own account. No form on this site asks about your health, your age or any condition — not on the accessible living route either.
